Marc Beaussart’s Prothesis Project made it into Archive !
The project started by a collaboration with the French charity ‘Kinesitherapeutes du Monde’. The charity teaches techniques on how to construct prostheses in challenging environments within third world countries.
Marc wanted to show the wide contrast between the technologically advanced medical prostheses made by engineers in developed countries and the ‘D.I.Y – serendipitous’ equipment made out of recycling material by the charity volunteers and locals. This body of work focuses on the details of handmade medical equipment made of cheap materials sourced locally.
